Alex Lea
I'm Alex Lea, a Film and Media Studies graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University, based on the outskirts of Manchester. My media journey began with football media in June 2023, when I joined Ashton United and began learning the fundamentals of design and communications in a real-world football environment. I worked on monthly graphics, supported the Supporters' Club, and contributed to various club sectors including pitch-side advertising boards. This experience sparked my passion for creative storytelling and football media.
I left Ashton United at the end of November 2023 to pursue new opportunities and joined Curzon Ashton at the beginning of December 2023 as a Media Assistant, where I became a core part of the club’s media team. Initially appointed as the club’s Graphic Designer, I quickly expanded my role to include a broader range of responsibilities, building engaging content across multiple campaigns to grow Curzon’s digital presence and community engagement.
At Curzon Ashton, I produced a wide variety of graphics—ranging from matchday visuals to milestone celebrations and promotional material for new signings and player contract extensions. My work contributed to a standout 2023/24 season, during which the club made history by reaching the Vanarama National League North Play-Offs for the first time.
My responsibilities also included conducting player and coaching staff interviews, managing social media content, and operating cameras on matchdays. This all-round involvement allowed me to strengthen my skills in football marketing and digital media. A highlight of my time at the club was promoting a fixture that drew over 2,500 spectators—a record attendance at Tameside Stadium—showing the power of well-executed media strategies.
I currently work as a Social Media Officer and Rental Agent at JMC Van Sales, a position I’ve held since December 2024. I manage the digital presence for the company’s Sales Branch, Service Centre, and Rental Division. My role focuses on producing engaging, humorous, and informative content, especially video to build stronger connections with our audience, boost engagement, and drive both online and in-person business. Alongside content creation, I respond to customer inquiries, track audience insights, and tailor marketing strategies to fit our evolving customer base. This role allows me to combine creative media with customer service and day-to-day operational support.

Each project is crafted with a focus on storytelling, visual impact, and audience connection—whether it's a matchday graphic, player feature, or branded video.
